We opened in an old print works in 2019.

Marcus and Tasha had coached in big-box gyms for a decade and were tired of watching new members get a tour, a towel and nothing else.

Forge is the opposite. Small classes, coaches who know your name and your bad knee, and a programme that actually progresses week to week. About 280 members, most of whom had never set foot in a gym like this before.

Four ways
to train

Most members do two strength sessions a week and fill the rest with whatever they enjoy. Every class is on one timetable and every membership includes all of them.

  • Member pressing a barbell overhead in a squat rack

    Strength

    60 min · max 14 people

Squat, hinge, press and pull, programmed in 8-week blocks. Every lift is coached and scaled, whether it’s your first session or your hundredth.

  • Two members doing box jumps side by side on wooden boxes

    Engine

    45 min · max 16 people

Rowers, bikes, sleds and kettlebells. Hard work you can scale on the day, built to make everything else in life feel easier.

  • Boxer hitting a heavy bag in the boxing area

    Boxing

    60 min · gloves provided

Footwork, combinations and bag work with Dre. Fundamentals is no-contact. Sparring is by invitation once you’re ready.

  • Coach guiding a member through a hip stretch on a mat

    Mobility

    40 min · all levels

Slow, guided work on hips, shoulders and ankles. The class everyone skips until they try it once.

“We coach every single rep. Nobody here is left to figure it out on their own.”
Marcus Reid, co-owner

How your free week works

  1. 01

    A 45-minute intro, one-to-one

We talk about your goals and any old injuries, check how you move and teach you the basics you’ll see in class.

  2. 02

    Seven days of any class

Your coaches will know you’re new. Come to as many sessions as you like.

  3. 03

    A plan, or a handshake

At the end we’ll help you choose a membership that fits. If it’s not for you, that’s fine too. We never take a card for the free week.

“My doctor told me to ‘do some weights’. I was terrified of the barbell. Now I’m the one telling new people it gets easier.”
